Military Aircraft Storage and Disposition Center (MASDC) Davis Monthan AFB Looking Back (to my pre-digital camera days) May 1981

A brief photo-report using my slides taken during a visit to MASDC in 1981. In 1981 the standard visit was an all day tour of the whole site, basically anywhere where you asked to see. Most of my images were on black/white negative film and not so far scanned. The images below are of the few slides I took on the day. The 'Boneyard' became the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG) in May 2007.

Republic F-105D Thunderchief (59-1774 'FK035') 121 TFS / District of Columbia ANG on the arrivals ramp. It was sent to Peterson Range, Colorado in 1997.

Left to right: Boeing NB-52E Stratofortress (56-0632 'BC211') arrived at MASDC in 1974, displayed on celebrity row it was eventually scrapped. Boeing B-52D Stratofortress (55-0678 'BC252') scrapped in 1994. Boeing B-47E Stratojet (51-5251 'BB001'), as marked the nose section was to be removed for 53-4296 at the Arms and Armament Museum, Eglin.

Sold to Preferred Airparts in Kidron Ohio and registered N567PT in 2016.
