The F-35A Litening IIs with the 495th 'Valkyries' Fighter Squadron
December 2021 marked the arrival of the first F-35A Litening IIs for the 48th Fighter Wing's recently formed 495th 'Valkyries' Fighter Squadron, irst announced in 2015. The new fighter squadron will comprise 24 aircraft delivered in a phased approach. When the 493rd FS returns its F-15C Eagles in a few months time the 493rd FS will become the second squadron to operate additional 24 F-35As. |

336 FS 'Rocketeers' based at Seymour Johnson AFB deploy to RAF Lakenheath.
336th FS 'Rocketeers', 4th Fighter Wing based at Seymour Johnson AFB, North Carolina are flying F-15E Strike Eagles. The 4th FW comprises four fighter squadrons; 333rd 'Lancers' (red), 334th 'Eagles' (blue), 335th 'Chiefs' (green) and the 336th 'Rocketeers' (yellow).
Yellow became the official color of the 336th prior to the Korean War. But it was not until 2020 that the rule to keep the HGU-55/P helmets as grey was changed to allow its aviators to wear yellow helmet wraps. |
