A lengthy photo-report
The Shuttleworth Trust cherry picked some of its military aircraft from its large collection including its Hawker Sea Hurricane Mk.1B (Z7015/G-BKTH) and Hurricane Mk.1 (P3717/G-HITT) to join five other visting Hurricanes. This we were told was the largest gathering of Hurricanes since 1946. Former Hurricane pilot Flight Lieutenant Archie McInnes at 99 is one of the last surviving World War Two veterans of the Battle of Britain was there for interviews and to wave to the crowd during the show. The flying display started at 14:00 and finished at 18:00 and was constant and impressive including a Hurricane seven-ship formation flypast near the end of the show. |
