A brief photo-report using my slides taken during a visit.
The French Federation of Ailes Anciennes (Ancient Wings) brings together several associations and museums which promote and restore aeronautical heritage in France. Unfortunately Ailes Anciennes Armorique was dissolved in 2014 and the collection was distributed across all French museums. |

Left to right: Nord Aviation 2200 (01) was a post-war prototype carrier-based jet powered interceptor developed for the Aéronavale (French Naval Aviation). It first flew in 1949 but was badly damaged in an accident in 1950. Repaired it continued with flight testing till 1954 when the project was cancelled after over 100 flights. It had been used as a gunnery target at Avord before it was recovered in the 1984. The only 2200 built was moved Lyon-Corbas where it was declared beyond repair due to being stored outside for many years. It was scrapped, apart from the tail, in 2014. |
