Another brief photo-report on the Eastbourne air show with a different perspective from on top of Beachy Head a chalk headland which rises 531 feet above the sea.
This year the highlight was the de Havilland Sea Vixen FAW.2/Drone D.3 (XP924 registered G-CVIX), the pilot, Cdr Simon Hargreaves RNR acknowledging that photographers were gathered on Beachy Head hoping for a low and close pass. The Air Traffic Controllers this year appeared to be holding the aircraft out to see and close passes were consequently unlikely. Scheduled to display at Herne Bay and then Eastbourne Cdr Simon Hargreaves detected an abnormal response when selecting flaps before Herne Bay and aborted the first display to make a low pass over Eastbourne to allow for a visual inpsection from the ground before aborting the display and returning to Yeovilton to land without incident.
