Fitted to the centreline station is the AN/ALQ-188 Electronic Attack Training Pod provides generic capability to simulate enemy threat electronic countermeasures for aircrew training and weapons evaluation.

The two-seat F/A-18F can carry five external fuel tanks and be configured as an airborne tanker tow a D-704 in-flight refuelling pod or 'buddy pod' as shown. Using this pod, other Hornets can refuel from it while the drogue is deployed. The drogue has a very short length, it takes a skilled pilot on both sides to ensure a successful refuelling operation.

These images were taken above Meadowlark Lake, in the Bighorn Mountain Range and Bighorn National Forest, Wyoming, near to the High Park Ranger Lookout just off Highway 16. Bighorn Mountain is in front at 12,324 feet (3,756m) with Loaf Mountain to the right. |
