Timeline Events organised another event here to raise restoration funds for the Vulcan Restoration Trust and Vulcan XL426. The re-enactors were worked hard by Steven Comber making sure all the photographers got the images they wanted.
Avro Vulcan B.2 (XL426 registered G-VJET) was delivered to Roy Jacobsen her new owner at Southend Airport on December 19, 1986, following a 20 minute flight from RAF Scampton. Vulcan Memorial Flight Supporters Club (VMFSC) took over the care of XL426 in 1990 later becoming the Vulcan Restoration Trust (VRT) a Southend-on-Sea based registered charity the formed in 1993. VRT keep the aircraft in good running order. Although it is not allowed to fly anymore it frequently performs taxi-runs. To my surprise XL426 was started up and taxied around the airport for a some minutes. The sound of its four engines was incredible. |
